You will serve the Lord forever
“37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39
Nothing can separate you from God’s love. All of us have experienced some type of separation, with friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc. The Apostle Paul said nothing can separate us from the love of God. There needs to come a point in your life where you understand that nothing can separate you from God’s love. A lot of things can come, but nothing can separate you from God’s love. Listen to the words of this man, “nothing can separate us from the love of God”. There’s one separation you can’t afford to get away from, and that’s the love of God. There can be a gossip or something or the other that could separate you from a friend or a relationship, but you cannot leave from serving God. You cannot allow that to happen. You need to be able to say that you don’t have gas to go to church, your broke, your depressed, whatever it is, but you’re not separated from the love of God! You will be able to say that you separated from your own father, from your girlfriend, but from the love of God? No way! He has never left me! You need to be out of your mind before you believe that someone is going to be able to separate you. Don’t ever let anything get in the way from you serving God. Repo my car, take my job away, take away my house, but you can’t separate me from serving God.
God can’t fail you. He cannot fail, it’s impossible for Him to fail. You can’t afford that separation. You may have a weakness, but that weakness will bring you closer to God. The bible declares that His power is perfected in your weakness. Every message that you will ever hear will lead you to make a decision. I’ve been assigned here to tell you that you will not stop serving God. Let me ask you, are you seriously going to allow that girl to stop you from serving God? You’re seriously going to let that relationship that goes on and off to divorce you from God. Are you crazy? Girls, are you going to let that guy who can’t even pray for three minutes separate you from God? Will you let what they offended you with separate you from God? How in the world can you separate from God?
I’m not talking about a high paying job, I’m talking about God. My love from Him involves obedience, sacrifice and service. Your love to Him, the way you demonstrate it, is through service. Giving your time, your body, and what you do. First of all, you were created to serve God.
“10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
God saved you so you could serve Him. You were saved to serve God.
“20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[a] and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:20
You were called to serve God, and you were commanded to serve God. At the end, it doesn’t even become an option, you serve God or you serve satan. That was a little too hard, but it’s the truth, if you’re not serving God, your serving the devil. To serve God, you need availability. Your talents, gift, love or calling, it’s all useless without availability. Once you begin to serve God, you need to replace the things you used to love with serving God. Do you know why I haven’t fallen into a lot of things that the world falls into? It’s because I’m not available for that. How do you do it? Just don’t make yourself available to that. Make sure you tell everyone also, that you’re not available anymore. Leave it in your voicemail “you’ve called me, but I’m not available because God called me and I’m now available to Him”. Say “I need to make myself available to God.” It’s not hard; you just haven’t made yourself available. He wants to use you so much, but you’re a no-show. You’re a walking monument, full of gifts and talents, but guess what; you’re not available for God. Then you say “God’s not there for me, where is He?” It’s not Him; it’s that you’re not available. Don’t ever let a pain that you carry inside of you make you unavailable to God. You need to be able to say “God in Heaven knows that (insert your name here) is available to Him.” It’s not that I’m so anointed; I’m just available for the anointing. Let me tell you something, I will sell you out for Christ.
Let me tell you, anything you do with the intention of pleasing God will not go unrewarded.
“14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.” Joel 3:14
You’re not available because you’re in the valley of decision. The longer you stay in that valley, the longer you delay His plan for your life. The bible says that many are in that valley, but I’m here to tell you that right now is the time to make a decision. You need to be available. How much longer are you going to wait? You know, I sit here every Sunday watching hundreds of people give their lives to Jesus. People who at their late age come across Jesus Christ and decide to serve Him. We are young, and yet we are still trying to make a decision. Does it really take years? If time really heals people, then we don’t need God, we need years.
What is attitude? Attitude is something that you learned, generated by your beliefs and created by how you think. Leadership is 20% talent, knowledge or ability and 80% attitude. How will you ever grow and mature if you have the wrong attitude. If there’s anything I’ve changed my attitude toward is my attitude toward God. Life is 20% what you know and 80% of the way you confront it. In the area of service, what is your attitude? Passivity, threatening, vengeance, sarcastic, humble, negative, positive, failure, or conquering is all attitudes. Your attitude will determine how long you last serving God. In your service toward God you will get criticized, discouraged, and there will be other times when you just don’t care about anything or anybody, but then comes your attitude! You need to look God in the face with a smile and say “put me anywhere so I can serve you in doing anything.” Don’t ever look down on yourself and believe you can’t serve God. You will never get anywhere with that attitude you have.
“5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:5-8
Being a servant and having the heart of a servant is about doing little things over and over again. Do you want to do little things? We need to do those little things. For example, I could cut off your thumb, and everyone would see that, and you could still live without that thumb. Let me take away your lungs or your kidneys, and you wouldn’t be able to live. It’s the things that you can’t see that keep you living. What keeps me going isn’t when people are seeing me, it’s when I pray or intercede or fast when nobody knows. It’s not about being seen, it’s about the little things that nobody sees. The most important service is the one that isn’t seen. You need attitude, and you need perseverance. There was a wealthy man who had a vision. When he was young, all he saw was his dad praying all the time. As he grew up, all he knew to do was pray. This man became a very wealthy businessman, and he was interviewed. He explained that he had an experience with Jesus. He said that Jesus came into his room and showed him a building with many rooms. Each room had people doing many things. One had people playing video games, watching TV, sleeping, talking on the phone, and doing everything but spending time with God. The last room had Jesus crying, telling this wealthy man who prays that many of His children don’t want to serve Him. He saw another vision after that. He was taken to a large field. The field was full of wheat, and that represented the people. Jesus told the man “look at my people. I bless them all the time. Look as I bless them” and He showed Him providing for all the people. Then, Jesus called the people forward to serve Him. Only a few came forward to the call. All the others stayed behind, and decided to stay. I ask you, will you go after money, fame, prestige, or whatever else, instead of serving God? Serve God with the right attitude, and everything you ever need or want will come to you.
